Nose to mouth lines

As we age, it is natural that your facial skin and muscle loose collagen and sag, creating 2 lines that run the nostrils to the corners of your mouth. These lines are medically called nasolabial folds.

Apart from ageing, other factors can also contribute to having marionette lines, such as genetics, sun damage and smoking. Ironically, frequent smiling can deepen these lines, making you look sadder. The habit of sleeping on your side also make these lines more pronounced.

The appearance of marionette lines can be delayed by taking a few preventive measures. First, it is very important to protect your skin from sun damage by applying sunscreen cream daily, especially ones with SPF 30 or greater. Secondly, using cosmeceuticals with clinically proven ingredients will stimulate natural collagen production, tighten you skin and reduce the appearance of wrinkles.

At Vanity Clinic, you will have a free consultation to choose from the many non surgical solutions that tackle differents facets of marionette lines.

Thread lift

Using specialised surgical threads, your nose to mouth lines can be lifted in a 30 minute procedure with practically no downtime. After the procedure, there will be only a few injection marks that should disappear in a few days. Results last an average 1 year with PDO threads, and 2 years with the new PCL threads. Vanity Aesthetics is one of a few providers of PCL thread lift in the UK.

Dermal filler

Treatment involves injecting a medically developed solution under the skin with a fine needle. Precisely placed on your face by a medical practitioner, dermal filler can also subtly lift nose to mouth lines. Compared to thread lift, dermal filler works better when there is no heavy sagging. Results last up to 15 months.
